The program helps restore patients' emotional and physical health after an injury or leave of absence and return them back to the role of an employee as soon as safely possible.

Our experienced staff work with patients to simulate work activities and provide reconditioning through the use of state-of-the-art isotonic back and extremity technology.

Business owners need to know their staff is capable of doing the work, and OSF Rehabilitation offers functional job analyses (FJA), functional capacity evaluations (FCE), ergonomic evaluations and consultations, education programs, and acute physical therapy.

What Does Industrial Medicine Involve?

  • Return-to-Work Program

    We provide therapy for the treatment of acute musculoskeletal injuries with a focus on home exercise programs and education. Body mechanics and ergonomic education is provided to the patient to help prevent further injury and assist the patient in an early return to work.

    Our staff has open communication with the referring physician, employer, and insurance carrier to facilitate a successful process. A functional capacity evaluation is given to determine when the employee can safely return to work and at what level of restriction, if any.

  • Cost Reduction Technologies (CRT) is the national preferred employment screening vendor for many insurance companies and their clients throughout the United States.

  • Ergonomics

  • The goal of our ergonomics program is to ensure the work environment is efficient and injury free. The work site is analyzed from an ergonomics perspective and recommendations are made for improvements.

    If needed, changes are made to the work environment, and education is given to the workforce with the goal of decreasing job injuries and workers' compensation costs.

  • Functional Job Analysis (FJA)

  • A Functional Job Analysis is the best way to explore the demands of a job. A trained therapist visits the workplace and evaluates the physical demands of the job. Force gauges are used to measure the weight and force workers must be able to tolerate.

    During this process, the duration and cycle of production are timed. Workers can then be evaluated to ensure better comparison between their abilities and the skills required for the job.

  • Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

    The FCE can be customized to fit the demands of the particular job. A direct comparison is made between the demands of the job and the abilities of the worker.

  • Work Hardening

  • For employees who are cleared to return to work from an injury, but are not back to 100 percent, the work hardening physical training process methodically gets you accustomed to the physical requirements of the job.

Preparing for Your Therapy

You will need a physician’s referral to set up an initial evaluation appointment.

What to Bring

For non-work related therapies, please bring your insurance card and a photo ID. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

When to Arrive

Arrive about 15 minutes prior to your scheduled visit to complete your registration process.

For children under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present for the initial appointment.

What to Expect

The first visit will take a little longer, approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This provides the therapist time to talk with you and gather information and measurements.
