Importance of Primary Care

It’s important to establish a relationship with a primary care physician (PCP). They can help guide you through your health care journey – whether it’s getting preventive care such as wellness checks and routine checkups to stay healthy or referrals to specialists if needed.

Working together with OSF primary care clinicians, you will have access to health education, disease prevention and healthy living options. When needed, you’ll find knowledgeable, highly-skilled care teams to diagnose and treat both acute and chronic illnesses.

A Dedicated Care Team

All primary care services are managed by physicians and advanced practice providers, such as physician assistants or nurse practitioners, who rely on other health professionals, consultation and/or referral as appropriate to best serve the health care needs of you and your family.

It’s important to know that APPs and physicians work together to take care of the health care needs of you and your family. Patients benefit from having both their physician and their APP working together on their care.
