Breast Cancer High Risk Assessment
OSF Saint Francis Medical Centerin Peoria, Illinois is excited to be one of the first medical centers in the nation to offer a high risk assessment (HRA) for breast cancer.
With the recent changes to breast cancer screening guidelines, it can be difficult to determine what screenings should be followed.
The HRA is designed to evaluate your risk for breast cancer, and help you identify lifestyle choices and screenings to help minimize your exposure.
How the High Risk Assessment Works
During your mammogram appointment, you will be asked to take the HRA. The assessment only takes a few minutes to complete.
In a private area, you will be asked to answer a series of questions on a secure tablet or computer.
The questions are designed to calculate your risk for breast cancer. You will receive your results immediately.
If the HRA determines you have a higher risk for developing breast cancer and other types of cancer, you can ask for follow-up counseling with one of our advanced practice nurse/genetic specialist to schedule an appointment at our HRA Clinic.
